Peptitler (Grekçe: πεπτίδια; “değersiz sindirilebilirler”) tanımlanmış bir düzende, α-amino asitlerin birbirine rabıtlanmasıyla oluşan kısaca polimerlerdir.[1] Bir amino asit kalıntısı ile öbürü arasındaki bağ bir “amit bağ” yahut peptit bağı olarak bilinir.[1]
Tetrapeptit (Oligopeptit)
Proteinler polipeptit molekülleridir (yahut çok skorda polipeptit madun birimi çitndırır). Baş nüans peptitlerin kısaca, polipeptitlerin/proteinlerin ise uzun olmasıdır.[1]
Protein sentezi esnasında her amino asit, gayrı amino asite ruzuşeb, kırılmayan bir polimer olan polipeptid zincirleriyle rabıtlanır. Polipeptid konstrüksiyonsına zalimlan amino asitlerin her biri konstrüksiyonya peptid rabıtlarıyla rabıtlanır. Peptid bağının oluşumu esnasında amino asitlerden birinin amino grubu ile diğerinin karboksil grubu, aradan bir akarsu çıkması sonucu birleşirler.[1]
Yaklaşık bir polipeptit zinciri 450 amino asitten oluşur.[1] Aşina en uzun polipeptit, takribî 27,000 amino asitten oluşan, kas dokusunda bulunan “titin”dir. Polipeptid zincirine zalimlan amino asitlere kalıntı (residue) adı verilir.[1] Zincirin bir ucundaki kalıntı, bağ yapmamış, azade amino grubu çitndırır ve N ucu olarak adlandırılır. Aynı şekilde zincirin gayrı ucundaki azade α-karboksil grubu olan kalıntıevet C ucu adı verilir.
